Susan Stearns, board president for Mt. Evans Hospice and Home Health Care, was on hand Sept. 4 for the Angel Tea celebrating the debut of Evergreen Fine Art’s 2008 Evergreen Angel, “Hope.” Stearns was eager to add the inch-high sterling silver pendant to her collection. “I’ve bought every angel since the program started,” she said. “They are beautiful pieces of art, and a portion of the proceeds supports Mt. Evans.”

Evergreen Fine Art owner Paula Conley, lead designer of the “Hope” pendant, says her staff was unanimous in naming this angel, the seventeenth in the series. “Every single day people who come in to buy angels tell us their stories, and every story is different,” she said. “To us, ‘Hope’ is a consolidation of what all the angels mean to everyone who gives them and everyone who collects them. They give a little bit of hope—and that’s what ‘Hope’ epitomizes.”

The angel program was started in 1993 by Evergreen Fine Art founder Virginia Haley to help raise community awareness of the hospice.  For nearly thirty years, Mt. Evans has delivered professional, compassionate in-home medical care to mountain-area residents who are recuperating from an injury, living with a chronic illness, or facing end-of-life issues. Hospice staff also help family members by providing counseling services, support, and education. For more information about Mt. Evans’ services, call 303-674-6400.
