Mt. Evans chosen as site for sculpture

AMC Sculpture

Mt. Evans Hospice was deeply honored to be selected as a site for placement of a sculpture by Art for the Mountain Community (AMC), a local organization devoted to promoting the arts.

AMC sponsored a competition for a permanent outdoor sculpture to be situated in front of our new building on Bergen Peak Drive. Chosen from 78 submissions, the piece by Colorado sculptor Lorri Acott-Fowler is a 14-foot bronze figure, reaching up to the sky and releasing multi-colored origami folded cranes which, in the Japanese tradition, are symbols of peace and hope.

AMC is planning a series of fundraisers to help pay for the piece and its installation. If you wish to contribute to the project, or would like more information about the organization and its activities, visit their web site at mountainart.org or call 303-679-8999. The names of those who donate $1,000 or more will be recognized on a bronze plaque beside this striking sculpture. A bronze maquette (a 16-inch replica of the piece) will be given to those donating $2,500 or more.

The sculpture will be dedicated at a ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008.
