Kristen Bailey, RN
Kristen is the weeknight call RN at Mount Evans. She started her career in a small rural hospital in Kansas in 1994 where she learned a little bit of everything, from delivering babies to the ICU. She worked in a burn unit for seven years and in a neuro-trauma ICU for four years. She has worked in a small family practice office and for a large cardiology practice. She also has a background in clinical research at the University of Nebraska Medical Center She really enjoys the work she does with Mount Evans and loves working in her community. Kristen have lived in Evergreen for 10 years and loves being a part of the community. She has three daughters and a granddaughter. She has an online shop where she sells hand-made knitted items. She also enjoys painting, sewing, music, yoga, hiking, paddle boarding, camping, and anything outdoors.
Kathy Butcher, NP-C, ACHPN
Kathy Butcher has worked at Mount Evans as an RN since 1999. As the agency’s Palliative Care & Hospice Nurse Practitioner, she works collaboratively with the hospice interdisciplinary team, ensuring standards of care and providing consultation and expertise in symptom management. In addition to hospice, she is part of the agency’s Palliative Care team, providing symptom management, advance care planning, and assistance with difficult treatment choices for those living with serious illness. Kathy received her BA in Psychology from the University of California in 1990 and went on to obtain a Nursing Doctorate from the University of Colorado in 1995. In 2013, she completed her master’s degree in Nursing at the University of Colorado to become a board certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. She holds national certification as an Advanced Certified Hospice & Palliative Nurse and is licensed to prescribe in the state of Colorado. Kathy lives in Evergreen with her husband and two children. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, yoga, beading, knitting and quilting. She says, “Mount Evans is unsurpassed in both quality and compassion in delivery of care.”
Katie Ingalsbe, ADN-RN
Katie is Mount Evans’ on-call/after-hours nurse, caring for patients in their homes Sunday through Thursdays evenings. She graduated in 2013 from the Denver School of Nursing and worked as a nurse at Denver Hospice until coming to Mount Evans in March 2016. Katie was born and raised in Evergreen, and is delighted to be returning to the area with her fiancé, Reid, and cat, Buddy. She loves all outdoor activities and live music. “I’m so excited to be living and working in the community where I grew up!” she says.
Gisella Kagy, RN, QA
Gisella works in the Mount Evans Quality Assurance office, making sure patient charts are in compliance with Medicare regulations. She also reviews medications and private insurance charts. Gisella has both BSN and MSN degrees. Before coming to Mount Evans in 2011, she worked in the Medical/Surgical and Orthopedic departments at St. Anthony's and Lutheran hospitals. She spent her first five years at Mount Evans providing home health and hospice care to patients in the I-70 corridor. Gisella lives in Longmont with her husband and two daughters. "I love the support and thoughtfulness of everyone on the Mount Evans staff," she says.
Peggy Kirschke, RN
Peggy provides skilled nursing care in patients' homes in Clear Creek County. When she started with Mount Evans in 1984, she was the first field nurse assigned to the I-70 corridor. She has worked in the fields of hospice and home health for many, many years. She lives in Georgetown with her two blind bassets and stays busy with her dog-sitting business. "It has always been a privilege to provide care to our neighbors in the small mountain communities."
Meg Leadford, RN, CHPN
Meg cares for hospice and home health patients in the Evergreen area. Before coming to Mount Evans in 2007, she worked in the ICU at the VA Medical Center in Denver. She received her BSN from Regis University, and she's a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse (CHPN). Meg and her husband live in Evergreen near Three Sisters Open Space. They have three grown children, two dogs, and one cat. Meg loves skiing, hiking, canning jam, Rockies games, and Broadway shows. About her job at Mount Evans she says, "I love to empower patients and families by helping them stay at home. I work with the most amazing, supportive colleagues!"
Sophia has been with Mount Evans since 2014. She fills two primary functions here: 1) She case-manages hospice and home care patients at Augustana Elk Run Assisted Living and in the community, and 2) she provides coverage for staff nurses taking vacations and other time off. Additionally, she does admission and time-of-death visits, and provides services at foot clinics offered by Mount Evans throughout the mountain community. Sophia has been a registered nurse since 1991 and is certified in hospice and palliative care (CHPN). She worked for various hospice agencies in California, including an inpatient six-bed hospice house. She was a care coordinator for a nonprofit serving children with life-threatening illness, and a palliative care nurse coordinator in a 200-bed hospital in the Monterey Peninsula. Sophia lives in Evergreen with her family and her two beloved dogs. She has one granddaughter, Amelia Grace. She loves exploring Colorado and spending time in the mountains—hiking, kayaking, and camping. An avid gardener, she is on the board of the Evergreen Garden Club. Another favorite hobby is bird-watching, and she is a member of the Evergreen Audubon Society. Other interests including sewing and creating with fabric. Sophia says, "I am so grateful to be part of this agency. Mount Evans allows me the opportunity to provide care to individuals and families in my community and the surrounding mountain communities."
Michelle Quihuiz, RN, Quality Assurance
Michelle has worked for Mount Evans since 2008. As a Quality Assurance specialist, she reviews all charts for accuracy, assists clinicians with case management, completes joint and educational visits with RNs and PTs, participates in Quality Management meetings, and supports field staff as needed. She graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and before coming to Mount Evans she nursed in the fields of liver transplants, surgical and cardiac ICU, home health (18 years) and hospice (8 years). She lives in Conifer with her husband, two kids, two Labs and five chickens. Michelle’s hobbies include almost anything outdoors, yoga, reading, gardening, working out, and hanging out with her friends. She loves being part of the Mount Evans team, which is composed of the most compassionate, and supportive individuals she has ever worked with. Michelle feels it is an honor to care for patients and provide support to their families during times of difficulty, hopefully making these times less frightening and overwhelming for them.
Terry Ritter, RN
Terry received her BSN from Florida State University in Tallahassee, and started working at Mount Evans in 2011. She lives in the Conifer area, and enjoys blogging, watching her kids play sports, and doing mission work. Terry says, “Working at Mount Evans is the best job I have ever had. Caring for my friends and neighbors is an honor, and I could not imagine doing any other kind of nursing.”
Kim Rozman, RN, CWON
Kim has been a field RN with Mount Evans since 2009. She graduated from Texas Woman’s University nursing school in 2001 and has a background in Trauma ICU and PACU nursing in Houston, Texas. She is originally from Boston and now lives in Evergreen with her husband and two children. In 2014 she went back to school to receive her certification in Wound and Ostomy. She is now a CWON (certified wound ostomy nurse) and works with complicated wound and ostomy issues. She loves to run, hike, and ski, or anything active outdoors. Kim says, “Mount Evans is truly a unique and amazing agency and I am so glad to be a part of it.”
Shannon Savocchi, RN
Shannon has provided home health and hospice care to patients along the I-70 corridor and in Evergreen since 2013. She has been a nurse since 1992, and has done many different types of nursing including cardiac/renal care, surgical, and family practice nursing. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Shannon grew up outside the Chicago area, but has been in Colorado for many years and lives in Idaho Springs. She enjoy hiking, camping, and all outdoor activities.
Kris Schuld, RN
Kris, who covers the Bailey/285 area for Mount Evans, graduated with honors from Front Range Community College in 2006. She began her career in hospice care in 2007 at a 42-bed inpatient facility in Lakewood where she worked as a charge RN on the busy day shift, prior to finding her home at Mount Evans in 2013. Kris is also knowledgeable in Reiki and aromatherapy. She and her husband live in Bailey with her son, a cat and a dog. On her days off, Kris enjoys hiking, skiing, fishing, and painting. She says, “Working at Mount Evans is like working with great friends and family. We all genuinely enjoy each other and the community where we live, work, and play.”
Karen is Mount Evans' Quality Assurance Coordinator and a field nurse; she has worked here since 2007. She chose to work in the home-health field in 1989 after three years working in medical-surgical, oncology, and orthopedic units in a hospital setting. Karen loves music, skiing, biking, and hiking, and wishes she could travel more often. She says, “The employees and volunteers at Mount Evans are the most amazing, fun-loving, compassionate group of wonderful friends I have ever had the pleasure of working with. We have an empowering and supportive leadership team that works tirelessly to build the best place to work for the staff and, most importantly, finding ways to best serve the wonderful people in our beautiful mountain communities!”
Maggie Whalen, RN, RD, BSN, CNSC
Maggie joins Mount Evans as an RN Intake Coordinator, arranging home health and hospice services as well as providing nursing care for patients in their homes. Maggie received a B.S. in Nursing, a B.S. in Nutrition and she is a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician. Maggie has thirty years of professional experience as a dietitian and a nurse providing services across the continuum of care. Most recently, Maggie worked at Abbott as a Clinical Liaison, providing education to physicians, nurses and dietitians. Maggie enjoys all of the great things that Colorado has to offer - especially hiking, biking and riding her horses.
