Support Services and Bereavement Counseling

Mount Evans is committed to helping stop the spread of COVID-19. In an effort to keep you safe as well as our staff and patients, we are cancelling all in-person support groups at this time until further notice.

ADULT SUPPORT SERVICES:

Our professionally trained and licensed social workers offer comprehensive emotional support services to assist family members and caregivers with issues of loss and illness. Mount Evans’ program includes: individual counseling; support/educational groups; one-on-one pairings with a trained bereavement volunteer; educational programs for the community; and Camp Comfort, a summer camp for grieving children.

Individual Counseling and Referrals
Mount Evans’ licensed social workers are trained in grief and loss issues. We provide short-term counseling to individuals.

Bereavement Volunteers

The holidays are not always bliss. Click here to read our advice for coping with grief and loss throughout the season.

Specially trained volunteers are matched according to an individual’s specific needs. Volunteers are available by telephone and for home visits.

ADULT SUPPORT GROUPS:

Adult Grief Support
We offer a seven-week grief support group several times a year for adults who have lost a loved one. Reservations are required.

      • Conifer
        Group sessions begin Tuesday, February 4, 2020
        3:00 – 4:30 a.m.
        Hosted at Mountain Resource Center in Conifer
        (In-person support group cancelled until further notice)
      • Evergreen
        Group sessions begin Friday, January 17, 2020
        10:00 – 11:30 a.m.
        Hosted at Mount Evans Home Health Care & Hospice in Evergreen
        (In-person support group cancelled until further notice)

      Grieving the Death of a Spouse
      This group explores issues unique to those who have lost a life partner. This meeting is held every second Thursday of each month from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.

      Bereaved Parent Support Group
      A four-week workshop for parents who have lost an adult child.
      Group sessions for this series will begin Wednesday, February 19, 2020
      11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
      Hosted at Mount Evans Home Health Care & Hospice in Evergreen

      Caregiver Support Group
      This monthly group provides emotional support services for caregivers helping ill, disabled, or elderly loved ones. It meets the second Monday of each month from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.

      Support Group for Caregivers of People with Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias
      Caring for someone with dementia is a difficult task that becomes easier with education and emotional nourishment. This group offers participants an opportunity to learn more about Alzheimer’s and provides a vital link to other caregivers and community resources.It meets the third Monday of every month from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.

      CHILDREN’S GRIEF SUPPORT:

      Counseling
      Each child’s grief reaction is very unique and can change depending on the child’s developmental age and the circumstances surrounding the loss. We can help. Call for more information.

      Camp Comfort
      Our award-winning weekend bereavement camp is designed to meet the unique needs of children ages 6 to 12 who are grieving the death of a family member or friend. Grief workshops are balanced with recreational activities so children feel free to have fun and just be kids. Click here to visit the Camp Comfort web page.

      LONG-TERM CARE PLANNING:

      Do you have questions about insurance, Medicare or Medicaid coverage or long-term care planning? Perhaps you need help finding special-needs clothing, equipment, or other services offered in our mountain area. We can help.
